Chiho Onoe
Chiho Onoe began her musical training at the age of four in Hamamatsu, Japan. She holds a Music Diploma in Piano from Capilano College, a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance from McGill University, and a Performer's Recital Diploma of Licentiate, LLCM. Chiho has studied piano with Kumiko Ohta, Stéphan Sylvestre, Sara Laimon, and David Vandereyk, and chamber music with Kyoko Hashimoto and Julia Gavrilova. She has performed in various ensembles and concerts, which include solo concerts at Clara Lichtenstein Recital Hall and Pollack Concert Hall in Montreal. Chiho has collaborated with many musicians, working as an accompanist and chamber musician with choirs, solo singers, and instrumentalists. In addition, she has received formal instruction in guitar, voice, and cello. She has participated in a number of master classes including the Vancouver International Piano Masterclass Series with David Dubal. She was the recipient of the Norma Porter & George M.C. Whyte Memorial Scholarships, the Nan McLean Goodwin Award, and the Dean's Honor List. She pursues a career in solo and chamber music performance and teaching.
